To wrap up all of the AZ talk lately, I’m sharing this gorgeous desert sunset session I photographed with Zach + Destrie in McDowell Mountain Park.

Let me preface by saying a huge shout-out to Katherine Elizabeth Photo for referring me over to one of the most stunning couples I’ve ever photographed! While planning for our vacation, I took a total shot in the dark asking local photogs if they happened to know anyone in AZ willing to do a session with me. Katherine instantly suggested her past couple, Zach + Destrie, who had relocated from MD to AZ. Before I could get to her first, Destrie ended up emailing me, completely ecstatic about photographing a session and getting to meet me during our visit. Without Katherine, I wouldn’t have this gorgeous post to show off, or have a new friendship waiting for us in AZ! Thanks girl!

I chose McDowell Mountain Park since it was a local and open location close by where we were visiting. I wanted everything - straightaway sunset, cacti, those mountain views in the distance, and this was the perfect spot!

When Zach + Destrie pulled up, I knew that I adored them. Full of sweet personality and humor, Destrie introduced herself with a big hug and an even bigger smile with Zach not too far behind her. These two were an absolute dream to photograph - I barely had to direct them through the shoot since they brought full force confidence from start to finish, but beyond that, they freely opened a window into their relationship where their playfulness, laughter, and raw romance were able to shine through effortlessly. They’ve relocated twice, originally from Oklahoma, and their adventurous bond keeps them rooted together to take on any new challenge.

We survived some questionable desert holes I was convinced had snakes in them and witnessed a coyote trotting by just minutes after we wrapped up, but my goodness I am in love with this session! Thank you Zach + Destrie, we’ll see you soon!
