WHEN TO BOOK
you call dibs
it’s always a good idea to grab the date you want in advance and i recommend at least 3-4 weeks prior. this gives you time to prep and pay, with the best booking to fit your schedule.
when TO SHOOT
it’s all about that sunset
i primarily photograph at sunset/golden hour to have the best warm glow and even lighting possible.
HOW TO PREP
take that nap, eat some food, hit that bathroom, and grab that coffee. photo sessions are no fun when you’ve got zero energy and an empty stomach.
WHERE TO GO
choose a sentimental place that your kids love to play at or a go for a quiet in-home session where you’re most comfortable. explore your local town or get back to nature in a nearby park. just make it personal to you.
WHAT TO WEAR
keep it comfy, casual, and classy
i’m a fan of darker colors mixed with neutrals and a few patterns. avoid neon or overly dominate colors like bright red or orange. make sure you’re comfortable no matter what position (standing, sitting, walking) and if ya want to get fancy, make it your first outfit.
what to bring
prep vs. prop
summer: bottled water
spring + fall: layers
winter: snuggle blanket
kids: bribe with after session ice cream
pets: all the treats; water if needed*
OPTIONAL PROP IDEAS
maternity: sonogram, baby shoes
hs senior: cap, tassle, senior ring
toddler birthday: CAKE to SMASH
HOW TO POSE
be authentically you
i’m all about the candids, giving you free reign to get real. i help with some direction along the way but you’re in charge of your session. bring that confidence, the laughs and crazy faces, bring who you are to the surface.
just in case
+ prep for weather
+ have an “in-case-of-rain” backup date
+ leave your phone in the car
+ don’t worry about time
+ communicate openly
+ trust the process
the portrait timeline
I handle everything for my clients personally - from the original connect form to the final delivery.
At the end of the day, not only will you invest in amazing photos, but you’ll truly enjoy your portrait experience.
frequently asked questions
what is your availability?
portrait sessions are typically scheduled Monday - Saturday from April - October and only on weekends November - December (daylight savings). I photograph during the best lighting conditions during late afternoon - sunset/dusk.
to find out if I’m available for your date, feel free to send in a portrait connect form.
what is required to book our session?
a non-refundable retainer of $100 and a signed agreement locks in your portrait session. the remaining amount is due 24 hours prior to the session. any BNP mini portrait sale dates require payment in full at the time of booking.
when do you host sale mini sessions?
sale minis are typically held on one date each only for summer, fall, and christmas sessions. i announce all info on my instagram and facebook page - check there or email me directly.
how long have you been photographing portraits?
I’ve been a portrait photographer since 2011 after earning my photography certification in college and have photographed over 260 sessions.
what’s your “style”?
my style is candid and in-the-moment. I prioritize comfort over all else, capturing my clients in their element. my photos are retouched with dark + moody tones and rich contrasted colors.
how can I become a V.I.P. client?
any clients that book multiple sessions or refer multiple new clients automatically get VIP status and enjoy even more perks of working with BNP!
when/how are the photos delivered?
the final gallery will be delivered via online gallery 30 days from the session date. sneak peeks may be sent via email 3 days after the session.
can we share and print the photos?
of course! my clients have a personal print + sharing release included in their collection. I love seeing post shares and am so thankful when any credit (@brittneynestle / #brittneynestlephoto) is given!
will my session be rescheduled in case of bad weather/emergency?
if the session date has a high forecast of bad weather, I will contact you via email at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule a new date. a session can be canceled at the client’s discretion but the portrait retainer is non-refundable.
